Mitch Winehouse Condemns Back to Black Cover
- in Latest
Mitch Winehouse, father of the late Amy Winehouse has condemned Beyonce’s cover of “Back to Black” saying that she brings nothing to the track.
The cover was recorded to feature in Baz Lurhmann’s new film adaptation of the Great Gatsby but has definitely not made a fan of Mitch who said that Beyonce should “pay for the privilege” of covering one of Amy’s songs.
He said in an interview with the Daily Mail: "I don't think she brings anything to it. I wasn't asked for my permission if they could record it. They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can't tell you how much it is but it's a lot of money."
An extract from the song has been uploaded to YouTube and so far, the response has been decidedly underwhelming from the public.
One YouTube user commented on the video saying: "They both BUTCHERED this flawless song. Poor Amy is rolling in her grave," and another user said, "I refuse to believe this is anywhere near finished."
Other famous artists appearing on the Great Gatsby soundtrack include Lana Del Rey and Florence and the Machine.
