Jury Sworn in For Michael Jackson Trial
- in Latest
A jury of six women and six men have been sworn in ahead of the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial.
The case has been brought to court by Michael’s mother Katherine Jackson against concert promoters AEG and she is seeking over $40 million from them for their hiring of Dr Conrad Murray who is currently serving time for Michael’s involuntary manslaughter.
The twelve jurors were selected after a three week selection process and a further six jurors have been placed on standby should any of them need to be replaced. Experts are predicting that the trial could go on for as long as two months.
It is thought that AEG will be bringing up Michael’s previous known drug abuse and child molestation claims in their defence culminating in the defence that he brought about his own death.
Michael’s children, Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket are thought to be giving evidence during the trial but have been warned that they will face tough questioning.
An insider previously told The Mirror: "We feel that with the world not watching, the kids will get a rough ride.”
"There may be lots of questions about Michael's child molestation court cases and how he behaved when he was on drugs. It could be stomach churning stuff."
