Katy Perry’s father, who is a preacher, has reportedly urged members of his congregation to pray for his daughter who he then described as his “devil daughter”.

Katy herself had a very strict religious upbringing and started out as a singer in her father’s church but quickly dropped the religious image when she became a pop star, starting out with debut single I Kissed a Girl.

Keith Perry has described how seeing his daughter perform has often left him in tears. He said: "They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl?"

"I was at a concert of Katy’s where there were 20,000. I'm watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church."

"I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They’re loving and worshipping the wrong thing."

Katy herself is currently working on songs for her third album so clearly has no intention of slowing down her career.

She is working with Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Greg Wells who were the same group of songwriters that helped her with her last album.

There is no indication as yet as to when the album might be released.
