News posted on the official Manchester United football clubs website yesterday, revealed that frontman Liam Fray of the Courteeners is blown away by 'Not Nineteen forever' being used as the celebration song of Manchester Uniteds 20th league title.

The song was played at the 3-0 win over Aston Villa when Man Utd won the title with several games remaining last month. This has caused the song to be re-released on iTunes. The song was originally released in 2008  making it to number 19 in the charts. This is the most popular and recognised Courteeners song, by the indie rock band.

The latest use of the song for this years premier league victory by Manchester United football club has brought a great deal more exposure to the band and the song.

Obviously, the song is very fitting as it relates to Man Utd gaining their 20th title, meaning they are not on nineteen titles forever. It is used by fans to boast about the teams massive success over the years.

Liam Fray said:

“It really wasn't a big decision to make, of course we’d let United use our song,”. “It’s humbling and surreal.

It was also revealed that Liam has a connection with the football club, as he used to be a ball boy for the stadium. So his song being used by the club will be a great thrill for him.

With the release being made some of the proceeds generated will be going to the  Manchester United Foundation.  Francis House and The Christie will benefit from this for cancer victims.

Although the Courteeners are a well known band by many they still remain rather underground. This latest use of their song which was started by literally fans singing in the crowd has caused great exposure for the band.
