Matt Cardle and Mel C are reportedly set to record a duet with each other.

Heart Radio’s showbiz editor Dean Piper let the news slip when he spoke about the two artists this morning tough he later hinted that he maybe shouldn’t have revealed the news quite so soon.

He took to his Twitter account after he revealed the news and said: "Crumbs. Probably put a cat among the pigeons with Matt and Mel this am.

"Hopefully they are going to hit the studio and hopefully it works."

In response, Mel C seemed to confirm the news by saying through her Twitter account: "Dean Piper! Good job I'm better at keeping secrets!"

No further news about the possible duet has been revealed as yet.

Both artists have recently suffered a decline in their musical careers with Cardle’s most recent album The Fire only just managing to enter the top 10, peaking at number eight and Mel’s last album Stages floundered at number 50.
