Psy Reveals Gangnam Style Was an Accident

Korean rapper Psy has admitted that the international success he enjoyed with Gangnam Style was largely an accident.

Psy was performing a speech at Harvard University when he made the breakthrough admission that the song was not your “standard” pop hit and that he never intended for it to become as big and successful as it has been.

"'Gangnam Style' was not normal," Psy said.

"'Gangnam' was not standard - that was an accident and accidents don't happen often."

As well as being hugely successful in the charts all across the world, it also broke Justin Beiber’s record for most views on YouTube with his video for Baby. It stills holds the title with 1.5 billion views which is unlikely to be toppled any time soon.

Gentleman has already racked up a respectable 300 million views so whereas it may not quite achieved the success of its predecessor, it’s still well on its way to being a huge success.

Psy has recently spoken out at his relief at not being classed as a one-hit wonder even though he has had much success in his native South Korea.
