Eurovision Bets Show Lack of Confidence in Bonnie Tyler’s Entry
- in Latest
The number of people betting on Bonnie Tyler to win Eurovision has significantly fallen ahead of the final this weekend.
It seems that punters simply do not have any confidence in Tyler to win the competition and this is reflected in her lack of support with betters.
The Sun claims that bookies Ladbrokes have only 77 bets for Tyler to win, a paltry amount when compared to last year’s entry Engelbert Humperdinck who ended up with 687. This left punters red faced though when he ended up second to last.
At the moment, Tyler seems confident that she will be able to gain the gay vote on the night, telling The Metro: "Well, hopefully I’m in with a chance, then, because 'Holding Out For A Hero' was played in all the gay clubs.
"I used to play The Saint club in New York. An amazing place. The sights I’ve seen, a bit shocking but fun."
During the interview she revealed that she had previously been asked to enter Eurovision back in the 80s although she ended up unable to do so at the time.
"They asked me once before in 1983 but I couldn’t do it then because I was living in America. Total Eclipse was number one and it didn’t seem the right time. But it’s the perfect opportunity now,” she said.
