Brian May Slams The Voice
- in Latest
Queen guitarist Brian May has slammed The Voice saying that it is “the ultimate insult to music”.
To add insult to the injury, May revealed his thoughts to BBC-run magazine Radio Times in an interview with them.
He particularly seemed to dislike the idea of the blind auditions where hopefuls perform to the group of judges who have their backs turned.
He said: "The Voice is the dullest, dumbest, most depressing show on TV. It’s the ultimate insult to music and to performers.”
"Every time I catch a glimpse of young singers busting their guts trying to win somebody’s attention, who is rudely sitting with their back to them... I feel sick."
Not one to mince his words, he added that he hopes the "vile show dies a natural death very soon.”
He may get his wish sooner rather than later as it has been revealed that The Voice has struggled in the ratings with its 2013 series having lost out most weeks to its rival Britain’s Got Talent.
The BBC are trying to overcome the ratings war however by announcing that the show’s live finals will air on Friday nights meaning that it will no longer clash with its rival.
