Eminem to Sue Facebook Over Advert
- in Latest
Eminem is starting proceedings to sue Facebook and an advertising agency.
The US rapper’s song publishing company Eight Mile Style has filed the law suit in Detroit claiming that Mark Zuckerberg’s company used one of his songs without the necessary permissions from Eminem and his team.
They claim that one of Eminem’s songs, Under the Influence, which was released back in the year 2000, was used last month in a short 30 second advert for the social networking site without prior permission.
The advert could be seen online and was used by Zuckerberg to announce the arrival of the new Facebook Home for Android Phones.
Most of their issue is with the agency that produced the advert, Wieden+Kennedy and the people representing Eminem claim that they used the track “in an effort to curry favour” with Zuckerberg by appealing to his own personal tastes in music.
Andrew Noyes, Facebook’s spokesperson has declined to comment on the situation and Wieden+Kennedy have yet to respond to requests for a comment so it is not yet known how news of the law suit went down in the empire of Facebook.
