The Voice’s Danny Blames First Winner For Failing Career
- in Latest
The Voice coach Danny O’Donoghue has blamed winner of the first series of the show Leanne Mitchell for the poor performance of her debut album in the charts.
He claimed that she did not work as hard as you need to in order of become a successful pop star.
In an interview with The Sun, he tried to explain why he thought that her debut album had only sold 500 copies saying: "That's not my fault, that's not the show's fault, that's not the BBC's fault, that's just her fault.
"You can take an artist like that and question their work ethic.
"I was told by Tom Jones, and by the label as well, that Leanne just did not want to work as hard as you have to work to be a popstar.
"She wanted to come on a show and win a singing contest. That's good for her, because she won the show.
"But it's not good for the premise of the show."
Danny’s criticism comes after Will.i.am’s thoughts as to why Leanne’s career has flopped though he seems to think it has more to do with Universal records.
He said: "Directly after they win - I don't know what happened. I don't know if the label engaged and surrounded it.
"I don't think the rushing happened and if it did, it was too slow. Especially in this day and age when everything changes every 20 seconds on Twitter. You go from something being hot to 'Oh, it's not hot anymore'."
