A heavily altered picture of Beyonce shown in a press release for Robert Cavalli has caused controversy.

In the image Beyonce, who is well known for her curvy figure is reduced to an almost inhumanly skinny size.

The fact that the image is altered is made all the more apparent by the inclusion in the press release of another image showing Beyonce wearing the same dress whilst onstage during one of her Mrs Carter Show dates.

The press release was posted on the Robert Cavalli Facebook page and many Beyonce fans have commented on the image, airing their disgust over the photo’s unrealistic portrayal.

One fan said: “Why would you do such a sketch that clearly doesn't reflect her shape?"

Page admins swiftly responded to fans’ comments saying: "We would like to clarify that the image of the gown created by Roberto Cavalli for Beyoncé is a sketch and not a photo, and therefore it is only meant to be a stylized and artistic vision.

"Roberto Cavalli loves women and more than anyone else has always exalted and highlighted the female shape with his creations, building his signature style on the glorification of sensuality and femininity."

Beyonce herself has always shown herself to be against the doctoring of images a recent example of which is her recent spat with H&M bosses after they used a slimmed down image of her in one of their advertising campaigns.
