Olly Murs Worried About Not Being Taken Seriously
- in Latest
Olly Murs believes that he would get more recognition as an artist if he has not started out on The X Factor.
He believes that his humble roots mean that people people do not see him as a credible artist.
He told Fabulous magazine in an interview with them: "My fans are incredible, but the media and the industry don't give me enough credit because I'm from The X Factor.
"As long as the fan base is growing, eventually the media and the industry will have to realize who I am.
"Or maybe they won't, maybe they don't care, maybe they won't ever like me."
Murs was the runner-up on the 2009 series, losing out to Joe McElderry but has since become a much more commercially successful artist having already had two number one albums and two number one singles.
Earlier in the year, Murs said how he was happy with his Brit Award nominations as he believed artists who started on the X Factor are at a disadvantage.
