Demi Lovato has spoken out about her X Factor US colleague Simon Cowell saying that she wasn’t prepared for just how rude he would be to contestants on the talent show.

She revealed that she would love to be as rude as he is to some of them but “physically can’t”.

Lovato will be returning for her second series on the show alongside Cowell this year along with two new judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland so is starting to become used to how blunt he can be with some of the pop star wannabes but she revealed that she wasn’t prepared for just how bad he can be to begin with.

"Whatever he has to say, it's the honest truth. Sometimes I don't agree with him, but most of the time he says what I'm wanting to say but, like, I just physically can't because it's so mean!" she told Heat magazine.

She went on to say how she recognises that he has a lot more experience in the music industry and as such trusts his judgement.

"He knows what he's talking about, he knows that he's doing and he's gonna tell you straight up, whether you want to hear it or not," she continued.

"But then a percentage of my mind is gonna be like, ''Well, he also said that this person was really talented,'' so it's the opinion of a guy who's very smart and who knows what he's going, but at the end of the day it's an opinion."
