Rihanna seems to have surpassed the popularity of teen star Justin Bieber after it was revealed that she has now beaten him to earn the title of most viewed artist on Vevo.

Bieber had been the most viewed star on the site for some time but new figures show that Rihanna has amassed 3.789 billion total views over her 77 videos on the site whereas Bieber has a mere 3.387 billion over 79 videos. Still an impressive amount but apparently not enough to fight off Rihanna.

Perhaps more impressive is the fact that Rihanna has also managed to gain a whopping 8.747 million subscribers, almost doubling Bieber’s 4.962 million.

Rihanna also beats Bieber in the popularity stakes on Facebook although he remains the most followed artist on Twitter.

Bieber was the first person to surpass 40 million followers on Twitter so fortunately for him, it doesn’t look like he will be toppled from the most followed title any time soon.

The top five most viewed artists on Vevo are as follows:

1. Rihanna - 3.789 billion

2. Justin Bieber - 3.787 billion

3. Psy - 3.1 billion

4. Eminem - 2.4 billion

5. Lady GaGa - 2.25 billion
