Andrew WK has completed a world record after playing the drums for 24 hours straight.

The record was for the longest amount of time playing the drums in a retail store which he completed with the time of 24 hours in Times Square New York.

The enthusiastic rocker tweeted to his fans straight after the marathon and said: "WE DID IT!!! 24 HOURS OF DRUMMING!!!

"Remember... I didn't do it, WE did it. You were with me every beat. I feel very emotional and party."

The challenge was all part of Viacom's O Music Awards with them getting band The Flaming Lips to set a record for playing the most live shows in different cities in 24 hours last year.

Jay-Z had previously held the record for playing 7 gigs but The Flaming Lips managed to beat him with 8.

Andrew WK's challenge for this year was by no means easy even though he claimed that he took up the challenge "for fun. For the fun of partying. To spread the gospel of Party Fun!"

He claimed he “hit the wall” at the 14 hour mark but managed to br4eak through it to complete the challenge.
