Courtney Love has reportedly given Jay-Z permission to use lyrics from the Nirvana song Smells Like Teen Spirit on one of the songs from his new album.

Love admitted that Frances Bean Cobain, her daughter with late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain might take issue with the use of the lyrics but she didn't seem to be too worried about it saying in an interview: "I'm letting Jay-Z use lyrics - Frances [Bean Cobain] would freak [if she knew about it]. Jay-Z's huge and we're friends. I mean we're not besties or anything...."

Jay-Z's new album Magna Carter Holy Grail was thought to have gone platinum before its initial release thanks to a deal that the rapper struck up with mobile giant Samsung.

As part of the deal, the first one million Samsung Galaxy smartphone users to download a special app will be able to get the album for free however a spokesperson from the Official Charts Company confirmed that these downloads would not be counted towards sales figures as they will not be paid for.

"Legitimate purchases of Jay-Z's album will count, however, as usual," the spokesperson said.
