Andrea Begley Wins The Voice
- in Latest
Andrea Begley has emerged victorious and won the second series of the BBC’s singing talent competition The Voice.
The partially sighted singer managed to beat the other remaining contestants Mike Ward, Matt Henry and bookie’s favourite Leah McFall to the title and has now earned herself the prize of a recording contract.
During the final of the show, Begley sang renditions of Evanescence’s My Immortal, Sarah McLachlan’s Angel and Hall of Fame my mentor Danny O’Donoghue’s band The Script.
Immediately after her victory Begley told host Holly Willoughby: "I actually can't speak. I never ever, ever could have imagined this. Honestly, first and foremost I have to thank everyone at home for voting for me. Hopefully I will try my best to put your vote to good use and be a success. Thank you so much."
Begley now has a lot to prove as the second winner to come from the UK version of the show after Leanne Mitchell, winner of the first series saw her debut album flop in the charts.
The album only managed to shift 895 copies in its first week of release so the pressure will be on for Andrea to forge herself a more successful career.
