Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have now officially wed in a ceremony which took place in the south of France yesterday.

It was reported that the pair had married over the weekend but this claim turned out to be false and they didn't get married until the 1st of July; Canada Day.

An insider confirmed with Us magazine: "Yes, they're married.

"It was a wild, all-night party with drinking, dancing, incredible food and lots of laughter and tears of happiness."

The rumours of the impending nuptials were spread after Lavigne’s publicist Tweeted the message: “I'm in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration.”

It turns out that the couple were apparently having a pre-wedding party before officially tying the knot.

Guests agreed that it was a magical occasion with one saying: "Avril and Chad had glasses of wine in their hands and were kissing as fireworks popped overhead and sparkled down.

"It was a magical moment and everyone was overwhelmed!...

"It was a truly amazing wedding, absolutely magical."
