Rihanna Compensates School With $5,000 for Turning up Late
- in Latest
Rihanna has made up for turning up four hours late for a scheduled performance at a High School by sending them a donation of $5,000.
The date was set up after one of the students who attend Barrington High School in Chicago won Rihanna’s Shine Bright Like a Diamond competition but he left students disappointed by turning up four hours late.
To make the situation that much worse, the school had also splashed out $2,000 on security and to promote the event.
Jeff Arnett spoke on behalf of the school and revealed that they are extremely grateful for the contribution: "We're certainly gratified to receive a contribution from her.
"Even though this $5,000 gift has been long in coming, her management communicated with us immediately after the event and said she wanted to do something for the students.
"It didn't take any coaxing or pleading by the district. It was something they offered to do, and it took a while to work through the book-keeping process."
It was also noted that, to her credit, her management team spent the time waiting for her to arrive handing out signed merchandise and free concert tickets so all in all, school staff were happy with the result of the day.
