Sacha Baron Cohen Drops Out of Freddie Mercury Biopic
- in Latest
Sacha Baron Cohen has dropped out of the project to bring the Freddie Mercury story to the big screen.
The star of films such as The Dictator and Bruno has been on board with the project for a long time now but has finally bowed out after apparently encountering creative differences with the other remaining members of Queen.
According to accounts, Cohen wanted to make the film and R-rated affair whilst Mercury’s band mates wanted the film to be made PG.
The band have approval from the script writer and director of the film so these differences ultimately caused Cohen to call it a day.
This isn’t the first conflict that has arisen during the project. Writer Peter Morgan and directors David Fincher and Tom Hooper were brought in by Cohen after they worked with him on the film Les Miserables but they were all rejected by Queen.
Now, Graham King, Tim Headington, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal are all lined up to produce the film with the approval of the band.
