Blondie drummer Clem Burke has revealed that lead singer of the band Debbie Harry is considering retirement after more than 40 years in music.

The band have worked almost non-stop since they arrived on the scene during the 1970s and at the age of 68, Burke claims that retirement is something that Harry is seriously considering.

"Debbie is 11 years older than the rest of us, so it’s on her mind," Burke told The Daily Mail.

"We’ve tried to keep it going for as long as possible, but it’s not just up to me. Nothing is finalised yet, but obviously there’s no Blondie without Debbie Harry."

The claim hasn’t officially been confirmed as yet although a spokesperson for the Debbie Harry did admit that the band are currently taking a break.

"They are in a hiatus at the moment," the spokesperson said.

"They will do some tour dates next year. Nothing is confirmed yet."

The news of a possible retirement may come as a shock to many since the band have been performing new material during their 2013 live shows.
