This week saw the release of Tom Richardson's debut EP 'We're Not Really Here'. The EP contains three original tracks by the Lancashire based musician. All songs were mixed, produced and recorded by Andrew Gilmour.

Already gaining a good response on Soundcloud, 'We're Not Really Here' has started to open new doors for the 20 year old musician. Making the transition from a cover artist, allows Tom to sell and promote his own material. This gives him a much greater chance to break into the mainstream media and showcase his music in a whole new way.

The EP kicks off with 'We're Not Really Here'. The clear crisp vocals and guitar catch your attention straight away. According to Tom, the song is about 'not being here', which is further backed up by references to band Radiohead and people being 'controlled by a puppeteer'. It seems the song has a deeper meaning of life, that peoples actions and lives could be controlled by something else. The song also contains several humorous statements, which are quite clever.

The next song on the EP 'Never Know' was actually the first song Tom had written. Once again, you know its Tom's vocals straight away, holding a distinctive quality sound throughout the EP. A more relaxed song which also contains some pretty nifty lyrics. In the song he references to 'girls who said no' and also 'sneaking through the back door'. Perhaps this was some of Tom's real life experiences coming through in the song.

Finally, 'My Thoughts' is the third and final song of the EP. Another chilled out acoustic song with catchy vocals and harmonies wraps up 'We're Not Really Here'. The song is once again influenced about his own thoughts, including the local are in which Tom has grown up.

One of the most impressive things about the EP, is that Tom's vocals provide a strong distinctive sound- Something that seems to be key to many successful musicians.

The initial response of the EP has already been great, some have suggested similarities between the likes of Ed Sheeran and other famous acoustic artists. 'We're Not Really Here' is available on CD format and can also be listened to on Soundcloud.
