Lady Gaga gas teased fans about show of the lyrics from her new upcoming single Applause via her Twitter account.

The single is to be the lead from her new album ARTPOP which will be released on November 11th but the song will be released prior to that on August 19th.

Gaga tweeted: "Give me that thing that I love / Put your hands up, make 'em touch."

She later went on to compose another tweet which read: “I stand here waiting for you to bang the gong to crash the critic saying: is it right or is it wrong? 8.19”.

Very few other details have been released about the track as yet although its co-producer DJ White Shadow has described it as a “real toe-tapper”.

Gaga will be performing the song at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards which will be taking place at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn on Sunday August 25th.

It has been revealed that a free ARTPOP app will be made available to fans to coincide with the release of the new album and will provide an "interactive jewel case" of multimedia content.
