Sir Richard Branson has announced that he is making plans to have in-flight concerts on Virgin Atlantic.

The concerts will take place on flights by Virgin’s domestic airline Little Red following a trial run where comedians performed on flights to Edinburgh.

Richard Branson has stated that he hopes the plans will “shake up domestic flying in the UK”.

He continued to say: "In true Virgin Atlantic spirit, we're doing something a little different and providing our passengers with a lineup of gigs to ensure we offer a truly unforgettable flying experience on Little Red."

The performances are set to start in September and where the acts that will be performing will be revealed on social media, it will not be known in advance which acts will be on which flight.

Branson has a busy year ahead of him with Virgin Records also celebrating their 40th anniversary and holding a number of events to celebrate.

Branson said: "Virgin Records is where it all started for Virgin, and 40 years later it's great to see we are still being innovative.

"This exciting series of events is the perfect way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Virgin Records and the artists, from Mike Oldfield to Emeli Sandé, who continue to disrupt the status quo."
