Charlotte Church has made the rather dramatic claim that she would rather poke her eyes out with sticks than be a judge on the X Factor.

There have been rumours that she may have been in line to replace Louis Walsh as a judge on the show once he departs after this year’s series but Church has revealed that being a judge would mean that she would have no creative input in the process at all.

She tweeted: “I got asked to do the X factor job. I'd rather poke my eyes out with sticks than be a part of the machine that kills music.”

She later also revealed information about just how much involvement the judges have in the process saying: "I had a meeting to ask about the level of involvement in the creative process I could have, and they basically said none unless it was in line with what was required. I wanted to see just how hardline it was. I found my answer and politely declined."

Louis Walsh has confirmed that he will be leaving the show after ten years and is the only judge who has remained constant through the show but its future is now uncertain as its ten year contract with ITV comes to an end this year.
