Katy Perry’s promotional lorry has suffered “substantial damage” after a drunk driver collided with it.

The golden lorry is currently travelling across America in order to promote Prism, Perry’s new album but ran into trouble on a road in Pennsylvania.

The collision apparently caused “substantial damage” to the truck and the drunk driver responsible has been arrested for driving under the influence.

Katy herself was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident but everyone who was on board is said to be in good health.

Katy addressed the incident of her Twitter account saying: “THE #PRISM SEMI IS BUMPED & BRUISED BUT SHE IS A CHAMPION! SHE WILL RETURN...”

When news of the new album was first revealed, Katy said that she had aimed to go in a completely different artistic direction.

"I know exactly the record I want to make next. I know the artwork, the colouring and the tone... I even know what type of tour I'm doing next. I'll be very pleased if the vision I have in my head becomes a reality,” she said.

“[Redoing Teenage Dream 2.0] would be silly. It's not of any interest for me to try and outdo myself at every corner. Eventually you just like pop, explode.”

Prism will be released on October 22nd.
