Dave Grohl has revealed that the new Foo Fighters album has been written and has also hinted that it could be set for release in 2014.

Grohl has teased fans about the nature of the album saying that it will be made "in a way that no one's ever done before", though he hasn't revealed anything else about what exactly this means.

In an interview Grohl said: "Well, I'll tell you, we have been in our studio writing and in the past few weeks, we've written an album."

"We are going to make this album in a way that no one's ever done before, and we're pretty excited about it."

None of the new tracks have been recorded in the studio as yet though did say that he didn't see any reason why the album couldn't be completed by next year.

"It's a little way off – it's not ready to happen right now, but I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question. It's going to be great, I can't wait," he said.
