A dentist has revealed that he plans to clone John Lennon by using DNA from one of his teeth.

Dr Daniel Zuck bought the tooth in an auction in 2011 for £20,000. It had up until then been in the possession of Lennon’s former house keeper after it had been removed in the 1960s.

Zuck has now revealed his plans for the purchase: "If scientists think they can clone mammoths, then John Lennon could be next," he said. "To say I had a small part in bringing back one of rock's greatest stars would be mind-blowing. I'm nervous and excited at the possibility we will be able to fully sequence John Lennon's DNA, very soon I hope.

"Many Beatles fans remember where they were when they heard John Lennon was shot. I hope they also live to hear the day he got another chance."

It seems that Zuck, as well as many other Beatles fans would relish the opportunity of getting the band back together, providing that George Harrison could be brought back as well of course.

Ringo Starr previously spoke of a Beatles reunion: "It's a crazy question.

"I'd like to think, yes, we would. Paul still goes out with his band, I go out with him and John would probably have been going out with his... But who knows, it could have come together."
