Eminem denied the BBC permission to broadcast his set at this year’s Reading Festival.

The famous rapper performed a headline slot on the main stage of yesterday’s Reading Festival but declined to give the BBC permission to broadcast or even film his performance.

A tweet from the BBC @BBCreadingfest explained: “Unfortunately we will not have any audio or video coverage of @Eminem from Reading or Leeds Festival. He asked us not to record his set.”

Radio 1 DJ Greg James later confirmed to Radio 1 listeners: "For those wondering about lack of Eminem - all artists we show on telly have to give their permission for us to film them. Eminem didn't.”

Very few artists have caused a similar problem for the BBC in the past with the exception of the Rolling Stones and their headling Glastonbury set earlier in the summer where they only permitted the filming and broadcast of a few songs.
