Former X Factor finalist Rhydian Roberts is funding the production of his new album by selling his hair.

Rhydian is working with Pledge to raise funds to set up his own record label as well as create new music.

Fans of Rhydian can download a copy of his new album for £8 but can buy it with certain extras including a lock of the singer’s hair for £100, a Twitter follow for £20 and a singing lesson for £250.

There are other, more costly options available including a Rhydian body cast for £1,500, the white silk suit that he wore on the final of the X Factor for £5,000 and even an evening with Rhydian in the South of France for £20,000.

In a statement, Rhydian said: "The music I make is about passion, and your passion for my music has allowed me to reach out further than I ever thought possible.

"So now I'd like you to be involved in a much more exciting way of making that music. A way that keeps all of the ideas, the passion, emotion and energy intact.

"So with a team we have put together and the help of revolutionary Pledge, we are creating a small but perfectly formed record label to make my next album."
