Contestants taking part in this year’s X Factor have apparently been banned from performing any Oasis songs according to reports.

The agreement came about because Nicole Appleton, who is married to Liam Gallagher, is accompanying Louis Walsh during this year’s “judge’s house” stage of the competition.

ITV bosses feared that the hopefuls may decide to tackle an Oasis song in the hopes of catching the eye of Appleton and Walsh in order to progress on to the next stage of the show.

Appleton and her famous husband are currently in amidst claims that he has been unfaithful to his wife and fathered a secret love child so bosses thought it would be in the best possible taste to simply ban Oasis songs to avoid embarrassment.

A source told The Sun: "Everyone was thrilled when Nicole came over to France and help Louis out. She's still incredibly cut up about everything that has happened with Liam so it was very brave of her to thrust herself straight back into the limelight.

"Louis is very fond of Nicole and he wanted to make her sure her time in St Tropezwas as enjoyable as it possibly could be. For that reason we had a quick word with the contestants and told them not to sing anything written or performed by Liam.

"Oasis tracks may not be the usual X Factor fodder but Louis does have the boys' category this year so there was a chance one of them would decide to belt out 'Wonderwall' or something like that. That would have been extremely uncomfortable."
