Katy Perry has unveiled the video for her new single Roar which looks set to top the UK charts this weekend.

The video, rather appropriately given the name of the track, sees Perry become Queen of the Jungle after surviving a plane crash. She quickly becomes a Tarzan like figure donning a tiger print bikini top and taming a real tiger so that it becomes a pet named “Kitty Purry”. This is a clever nod to Perry’s real-life feline companion of the same name.

As well as being on course to take the number one spot this week, Roar is also quickly approaching becoming the quickest selling single of the year so far and could even sell more copies than Avicii’s Wake me up.

Perry easily claimed victory in the mid week charts, beating Ellie Goulding with her track Burn off of the number one spot and by that point, Roar has already sold 103,000 units.

This means that it could realistically be a contender to beat Wake me up which sold over 266,000 copies in its first week of release.
