Richard Branson blames Apple as well as the internet for the demise of his music stores.

He spoke in an interview with French radio station Europe 1 about the fall of his chain of music stores, Virgin Megastores in Western countries but did say that everyone needs to accept that technology is changing at adapting.

"Generally speaking Apple is magnificent, but Apple has killed the music stores, as has the internet," he said.

He did however make the point that he does not blame Apple entirely continuing to say: "No, you just have to accept that technology moves on and nothing is forever."

Virgin Megastores once dominated high streets in his country but the name has since disappeared all together.

"We had the stores for 30 years but nothing is forever sadly and I'm just glad that we sold the stores ten years ago so we didn't have to go through the horrible pain of people losing jobs."

The name is still present in countries such as Egypt and Jordan.
