X Factor Flash Vote Cancelled

Things were shaken up again on last night’s X Factor with the decision being made to drop the recently introduced “flash vote”.

This week was disco week with all of the remaining hopefuls performing various disco classics in a bid to keep their place in the competition.

The show as opened by Nile Rodgers and Chic performing a medley of their hits and host Dermot O’Leary revealed that this left no time in the show’s schedule for a flash vote to take place.

Instead, Dermot will announce both of the acts who received the fewest votes in the public vote in tonight’s show and they will go head to head in the sing-off.

A spokesperson representing the show said: “As tonight's show featured an opening performance by Nile Rodgers and Chic there wasn't time in the show's current length to feature the Flash Vote as well.

"The Flash Vote is currently being rested, the Live Show has always had a number of innovations and changes from wildcards and double eliminations to keep things interesting for viewers."

At the moment it is unclear whether the change in the voting system will remain in place for the rest of the series or will be re-introduced at a later date.
