Katy Perry Becomes Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF
- in Latest
Katy Perry has been enlisted as UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador.
The “Roar” singer announced that she was thrilled to be given the opportunity to improve the lives of children in developing countries.
She said: “I believe young people have the power to change their own lives, with our help.
“I am honoured to join UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador, and committed to doing everything I can to help children and adolescents who come from such different backgrounds but want the same thing: a brighter future.”
The organisation seemed equally as thrilled to have Katy on board with Executive Director Anthony Lake saying: “Katy Perry is already a champion for children, and we look forward to hearing her 'roar' on behalf of UNICEF.
“We are delighted that she is joining us as UNICEF's newest Goodwill Ambassador and lending her remarkable voice to amplify the voices of children and young people around the world.”
Perry is not the first celebrity to have stepped into the role and has some very high-profile footsteps to follow in including those of David Beckham, Orlando Bloom, Susan Sarandon and Jackie Chan.
