Dr Dre to Release Beats Music Streaming Service
- in Latest
Dr Dre is set to release his own music streaming site to rival Spotify in the New Year.
The service will go live in January and has been named under the Beats Music brand.
Dr Dre isn’t the only big name attached to the project either with Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor working as chief creative officer.
Reznor has revealed that the service will differ from Spotify in that it will feature playlists and suggestions derived from artists themselves rather than those created automatically.
"It's like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn't necessarily have encountered," said Reznor.
Work is still underway on the service with a group of freelancers having been hired to compile playlists ahead of the site’s launch.
