Nicole Scherzinger is a possible name to perform at the funeral of Nelson Mandela, it has been claimed.

The Sun report that the X Factor judge met up with Mandela’s daughters Zindzi and Zenani at a London hotel after the former South African president passed away.

A source told the newspaper: "During the chat Nicole had with the daughters it was mentioned she should sing at his funeral, or at least be a very prominent guest."

Nicole has already paid tribute to Mandela at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Awards.

Having only just heard news of his death she told the crowd: "When I found out that Mr Nelson Mandela had passed away... it brought a tear to my eye.

"I had the honour of meeting Mr Nelson Mandela and had the great honour of singing for him."
