Paving Stones With Lostprophets Lyrics Removed From Pontypridd
- in Latest
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council have confirmed that they have removed paving stones in Pontypridd that were engraved with lyrics from the Lostprophets song “Streets of Nowhere”.
The decision was made after local councillors complained following Ian Watkins' conviction of child sex offences.
The paving stones were laid back in 2012, the same year as the band released their final album “Weapons” and was part of the town's celebration of local talent.
Lostprophets met and formed in the Welsh town and were always open about heir pride of their hometown.
The issue of the inappropriate paving stones was first raised by Labour member Mick Antoniw who said: "There was a lot of pride in Pontypridd in the band and what has happened has absolutely shocked, horrified and disgusted a lot of people.
"No-one has actually raised this as an issue with me but I think it's one of those things that if it's felt that it is offensive then I think the council would need to give some careful thought to removing it."
