Ofcom have confirmed that Lady Gaga's performance on The X Factor did not break any broadcasting rules.

Gaga performed on one of the series' pre-watershed results shows on October 27th and ended up prompting 317 complaints to be made directly to Ofcom.

ITV themselves also directly received 60 complaints about the performance, during which Gaga danced on stage wearing little more than flesh-coloured underwear and sea shells to cover her breasts.

The Guardian have now reported that Ofcom have assessed the performance and have deemed further investigation unnecessary on this occasion.

A spokesperson for ITV previously said: "We do not believe Lady Gaga's performance was inappropriate for the family audience of the X Factor Results show, which has an established tradition of featuring performances from the biggest music stars. Lady Gaga is well known for her highly individual performance style."
