A former inmate of the prison where shamed rocker Ian Watkins will be spending his sentence has revealed that he will most likely be treated like “a god” in prison because of his crimes and his celebrity status.

Michael O'Brien was wrongly imprisoned and spent 11 years at the Category A Wakefield prison before being released.

He told Walesonline that Watkins’ fellow inmates are likely to look up to him because of the rock star lifestyle he has lead until now.

"Sex offenders will probably think he is God," O’Brien said.

"The people on his wing are sex offenders and they will think, 'He's just like me, I have a rock star just like me.'

"Paedophiles will spend time trying to befriend him and stuff like that. There are some sick people in there."

South Wales police have revealed that they are still investigating the case and are expecting to make further arrests as the investigation has now reached a world wide scale.
