Jimi Hendrix Flat to be Turned into Museum
- in Latest
Jimi Handrix’s former residence in London is to be turned into a museum dedicated to the guitarist.
Hendrix lived in the attic of the Georgian town house at 23 Brook Street from the summer of 1968 onwards and was described by him as "the only home he ever had".
A £1.2 million grant has been allocated to The Heritage Lottery Fund which will allow them to recreate the interior of the flat which when complete will display pieces from Hendrix’s life as well as historically accurate furnishings.
The building has been used as offices until recently for staff at Handel House Museum.
Number 25 which is next door to number 23 is known for having another famous resident in composer George Frideric Handel and the museum dedicated to him previously cut off access to Hendrix’s former flat.
