HMV's flagship store at 150 Oxford Street has been forced to close to make way for a new Sports Direct Store.

The struggling music retailer has now set up in more modest accommodation at 363 Oxford Street, a far cry from number 150 which boasts 60,000 square feet and once made it the biggest music store in the world.

Newcastle United chairman Mike Ashley who owns the Sports Direct chain reportedly bought the retail sight for £2-5 million in June 2013.

HMV entered into administration last year when the chain ran into financial difficulties but has since been bought by Hilco and has undergone a restructuring.
