Pharrell Williams has knocked Sam Bailey off the number one spot in the singles chart with his song “Happy”.

After winning the X Factor, Bailey went straight to number one with her winner’s single “Skyscraper”, also claiming the title of Christmas number one 2013.

This week however, Pharrell climbed from the number two spot and knocked Bailey to number two to claim his third and final number one of 2013.

Previously number ones that he has achieved this year are “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke and T.I. and “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk.

“Happy” enjoyed huge amounts of publicity after being included on the soundtrack for Despicable Me 2 and shifted 107,000 copies this week.

Avicii were number three this week with the song “Hey Brother”, Jason Derulo was number four with “Trumpets” and Rihanna and Eminem completed the top five with “The Monster”.
