Beats Music's new streaming service which aims to rival Spotify has launched in North America.

The service is available as an app on iOS devices and offers users access to a catalogue of some 20 million tracks for a monthly subscription fee of $9.99.

The app has had many well known names working together in its creation including Jimmy Iovine in collaboration with Dr Dre, Luke Wood, Trent Reznor and Ian Rogers.

Beats Music offers a number of impressive features aimed at taking its rivals on head on including tailoring playlists based on the listening habits of the user.

It also offers the ability of being able to type in phrases that will yield a playlist specific to the situation. For example, typing in the phrase "I am running at the gym"  will return a playlist of songs which are appropriate to what someone may listen to whilst working out.

The app is expected to be rolled out to Android users in the US later this year and although a date is yet to be specified, will launch in the UK in the future.
