You Me at Six have made the claim that their songs have been banned from ever being performed on the X Factor.

The band’s front man Josh Franceschi has claimed that previous contestants have expressed an interest in performing their songs but have been told that they are unable to because it is feared that their songs aren't well known enough.

Franceschi told newspaper The Daily Star: "Me and our drummer Dan Flint were out with James [Arthur] and some other X Factor singers one night. A few of them are You Me At Six fans too.

"They'd really wanted to do one of our songs. However, the producers won't allow rock songs to be performed unless it's by famous bands like AC/DC."
