A teacher at a school in Florida has been suspended after using uncensored Lil Wayne lyrics at part of their class’s homework.

The English teacher handed out the uncensored version of the lyrics from Lil Wayne’s single “6 Foot 7 Foot” and asked them to give examples of figurative language.

The teacher has since been suspended for three days over the incident.

Headmaster of the school Wayne Owens said: "The lesson was for students to learn to identify literary devices. The teacher had already introduced Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare. Students were having difficulty grasping the concepts of literary devices such as: pun, simile, metaphor, so the teacher used colloquial material. This material did not meet the school's standards and was not approved. The teacher recognizes that it was totally inappropriate for a school assignment."
