Fall Out Boy have revealed that they are set to release their own version of the surprise hit game “Flappy Bird”.

The app, dubbed “Fall Out Bird” was put together in less than 24 hours and will be made available on both iOS and Android later this week.

The band tweeted: "Rome wasn't built in a day, but this game was. Coming... as soon as it's approved."

The phenomenon that is Flappy Bird was pulled from app stores recently by its creator Dong Nguyen after he said that he could no longer sleep due to the game’s success.

"Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed,” he said.

"But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it's best to take down Flappy Bird. It's gone forever."
