A teenager has had his entire music collection confiscated for playing Adele’s music too loudly.

Over 200 CDs were seized from Thomas Alcock after playing songs by Adele at a "prominent, intrusive and very high level".

Kirklees council in West Yorkshire had previously served an abatement order to the 18 year old in November after neighbours complained of the noise. They also threatened that his music equipment could be confiscated if he continued to play it too loudly.

The prosecutor told the court in the case: "It was so loud the handrails on a stairwell were vibrating and neighbours could identify the singer as Adele. The music was so loud it was vibrating the handrails to the stairwell."

It was ruled that all of Alcock’s musical equipment should be confiscated despite him claiming that part of his CD collection belonged to his deceased father.

The collection will now be disposed of by the council.
