Lily Allen has made the shock move of agreeing with a fan on Twitter who likened her most recent musical output to “docile pop rubbish”.

Allen has so far released three songs from her upcoming album “Sheezus” which is due for release in May, as well as the huge hit “Somewhere Only We Know” which appeared on last Christmas’ John Lewis advert.

Allen revealed in her response that radio stations are keeping back some of her better material back.

Twitter user Reg Wilding wrote: "@lilyallen's new music is actually docile pop rubbish. So disappointing. She properly just wrote some rubbish to cash some cheques."

Allen responded by saying: "What you've heard so far yes. All I can do is do my best, the labels and the radio stations won't play the better stuff."
