X Factor winner Sam Bailey has managed to hit the top of the charts with her debut album “The Power of Love”.

The album knocked George Michael’s latest effort “Symphonica” off of the top spot and in doing so has sold over 73,000 copies, making it the fastest selling album of the year so far.

Sam, who is expecting her third child, spoke of her joy of claiming the number one title on Mother’s Day, telling the Official Charts Company: "This really is the icing on the cake to an incredible few months."

"I've worked hard to get where I am and I'm so happy that everyone is liking what I'm doing. It really is a dream come true."

George Michael managed to hold on to the number 2 spot.
